Regulators need to unite to stamp out short-selling We have yet to see any hard data that supports the need to "stamp out short selling", or what benefit this action would bring. The only evidence that is available shows that short selling is a minor part of the overall trading activity taking place. Further, with respect to the UK, short selling in financials has been tailing off in recent months. Finally, the short selling ban has had no effect on share price movements in financials as shown by the continued downward trend since the bans have come into effect. http://shortstories.typepad.com for some real statistical evidence.
