CMS kickstarts City goldrush to Ukraine

Money to be made in Ukraine If a firm thinks it can make money in, say, the Czech Republic, it can definitely make money in Ukraine. Ukrainian banks are issuing debt and there is significant amount of international M&A. Plus, it’s a very under-lawyered jurisdiction. If you’re an international firm opening a new office anywhere, the obvious place you’re going to recruit from is another international firm, as you know the lawyers will have already passed the quality test. In Ukraine, the only real full-service firm is Bakers. The others are all quite small out there. But I’d be surprised if we don’t see more firms opening there.
