Are my academics good enough?

If you are certain that the City isfor you - and you have to be sure that having no life out of the office is for you - then exploit those contacts you will have made at that City vac scheme. Ask their advice, where they graduated from, what extra-curricular impresses their recruiters the most...you know the drill! That said, all is not lost by doing your non-law undergraduate degree at a non-Russell group Uni. Perhaps find out which law schools your preferred City firms would prefer your GDL and LPC to be studied at and that may well count better than doing the LLB at a Russel Group. Take comfort in the fact you were able to get the vac scheme - they are nearly as competetive as the TC's and the fact you have one means they know your face and if they want to work with you or not. The fact you have gotten that far with your non-Russell group degree shows you do not need to panic just yet.
