In defence of unpaid internships

A government student loan, as referred to above, is not available for postgraduate study such as the BPTC. Graduates must obtain funding from banks, scholarships etc. Repayment of the same is not deferred and most experience difficulty paying back between £150.00 and £450.00 per month. Therefore, Mr. Wood's argument that students don't have to repay until they earn £21,000.00 is incorrect. I personally am left with around £32,000.00 worth of under and post graduate student debt and could not contemplate the possibility of taking up 6 months unpaid work experience.
