Met Police settles phone-hacking lawyer's libel claim for £200k

"... we’re pleased that a potentially expensive libel trial has been avoided.” So blowing £200k plus another £100k or so for their own costs to fight a hopeless case doesn't count as expensive? Still, I suppose it's only the taxpayers' money, so it doesn't really matter. The idiot at the Met who authorised this spend should be named and shamed, and then sacked.
