@Anonymous (10:51 am) Unfortunately, there's no answer to the continuing question of dwindling NQ vacancies. And I think that you are right, the position is only likely to worsen, particularly in view of ever increasing numbers of more than competent graduates. Anybody speaking to those considering a career in law has to make things clear; yes, a career in law can be rewarding in many different ways; yes, it's a professional field that is constantly evolving; and, yes, it presents numerous challenges. However, the greatest challenge of all is going to be getting a foot on that first rung of the ladder and being prepared for fierce competition for an NQ place thereafter. Anybody considering law without realising the likely challenges is strongly recommended to go and speak to somebody in the early stages of the profession. Having said that, when is getting anything you want ever easy? Isn't that the key? If you want it, go in with your eyes open and be prepared to work hard for it.
