Macclesfield case reheard after judge fell asleep at bench

Exactly the same thing happened to me once, as a very junior advocate appearing in my first contested trial many, many years ago. The other two magistrates ignored it, the clerk (whose back was of course to the bench) didn't seem to notice and neither I nor my opponent knew what to do - so the issue was tactfully glossed-over. I wish I had had the nous back then to do as Ms King did and complain. Luckily the appeal to the Crown Court judge was much more entertaining...
