There is no conflict between the concept of a sophisticated business serving sophisticated clients and whether it presents itself "for any sort of public scrutiny". Whilst this may not help The Lawyer sell more copies when it is attempting to provide an authoritative breakdown of the European market, that is what Tulkinghorn's Continental friends might describe as "Cheddar dur".
