Osborne Clarke repositions as European firm with local mergers

Comment

For me, the OC are the measure of what a mid-tier firm is and can offer. Therefore seeing them take this big step suggests that the whole mid-tier market is changing in a significant manner. In the coming months we're going to see the mid-tier market divide. The smaller practices that couldn't find a merger partner will fall behind. Those that consolidated early on and with the best partners will move away. The top 100 statistics next year will make for some very interesting reading. Expect some big changes (although most firms will rise 10 points because there have been so many mergers). Also expect some big regional players to split up as partners realise they have a better chance of merger without some of the smaller offices.
