Channel Islands imports must carry VAT, court rules

A fair playing field is indeed very important for the UK small business sector but I can't help shed a tear on a personal note over this ruling. Yes, I am slightly biased and I apologise for that in advance. I am part of a shrinking group of hobbyist photographers who still shoot film. Over the last five years I had been exclusively buying my films from various Channel Island based stores. Some have even been able to supply processing chemicals at a significant saving. Over the weekend I noticed that the price of all my favourite items has gone up in price. I hope that this issue does not lead to complete closure to many of the businesses I have personally dealt with as that would be rather a shame. Film is dying but I would rather like it if it did not die during my lifetime!
