City of Westminster wins illegal subletting case against tenant

Prosecution is a good idea but locking non-violent criminals up for 16 weeks, or, indeed, at all, is just stupid. I suppose this sponger doesn't work and could not therefore pay a fine, but how about community service - picking up garbage, cleaning public loos? Or how about 50 lashes - cheaper, quicker and far more memorable than a lagging. On the other hand, he can live rent free for 16 weeks and probably pick up some new skills at the University of Crime.
