Ashurst to launch in Beijing with Mallesons hire

A shame that a premier firm like Mallesons decided to wreck itself in this way. Understandable that its clients and lawyers don't want to stick around to have their confidential information at the mercy of the ministry of justice in China, but why couldn't Mals have sequestered its China practice? Did they think there's no value in having international lawyers practising in China? Did they really just want to dump their own partners into King and Wood? If they did, what a massive waste. Good for the rest of us competitors though!
