Interesting research and confirms my assumption that law firms tend to buy first and ask questions later when approaching lateral hiring. Would be interesting to know the comparisons in attrition between when firms instruct headhunters to scour the market / undertake due diligence and when they hire partners because an apparently great opportunity knocks on their door.
