I may be wrong but as I understand it, Myanmar is the name preferred by the military dictatorship which has imprisoned, tortured and killed thousands of its own people, whereas Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi and her supporters, including the Burma Campaign UK, are happy for the name Burma to be used.
