A&O to launch Casablanca office with three Gide partners

Morocco politically-stable? It is shocking how many lawyers are seemingly ignorant of marco geo-political trends. Whilst I doubt that the ruling monarch is going anywhere soon to label a regime that has been teetering on the edge as secure is really too much. In the past month, we have seen proposals put forward to revolutionise the country's constitutions, introduce limited democratic means and attempt to reduce the palace's central role in selecting the government of the day. Whilst this is certainly 'stable' when compared to Egypt, Libya or Yemen, I find it hard to believe it is all that certain as to what the outcome would be. A far wiser play would have been to go into South Africa or open a small office in Kigali, a country where A&O has tremendous goodwill following its recent work with the judiciary. Or better yet - maybe they should refrain from opening offices until their existing ones are actually all profitable, which, frankly, they are not.
