DWF aims to conquer Newcastle as it hires Dickinson Dees' Flynn

The DWF chief said in Oct 2010 “I’ve had discussions with firms in Newcastle, Bristol and Birmingham." I assume this means DWF met with Dickinson Dees to suggest a merger and then decided that wasn't a good idea.
