Non-lawyer partners remain a minority trend

What is so special about running a law firm anyway? It is just another service business. Oh I nearly forgot it's lawyers! As David Maister so elegantly put it; 'Lawyers are different'. However, management reamains management whatever spin others may put on it. Finding managers who understand the nuances of working successfully with lawyers shouldn' be that hard, unless of course you only look at accountants! At the end of the day the capacity of one person to influence and control is always going to be constrained. The real skill is in building a consensus for change and an acceptance that the present business model is past its 'sell by' date.
