If one could have nay faith in big firms' ability to sort the sheep from the goats, the wheat from the chaff, the wood from the trees and the talented from the chatmeisters, this would surely be a good thing - evidence of a meritocracy at work. Who the hell can justify jobs for all in the current climate, when big firms were over-recruiting for boom time conditions let alone now.
