Revealed: the gender pay gulf dividing UAE counsel

Comment

I've been in the UAE since 1997 and I've never seen or heard of any lawyer outside of private practice (partners) earning anywhere near these kinds of salaries. At best, GC's might expect to earn AED100k-AED125k per month (all in). The notion of GC's earning AED200k as the norm is fanciful, save that there might be a few (i.e. one or two) Emirati lawyer(s) at some governmental dept(s) earning a crazy wage... Also, I would be interested to understand what is meant by in-house counsel at "the more junior end" earning AED140k. Again, this is simply not believable for anyone with even a passing knowledge of the UAE legal market. And BTW - it would be great if you recruiters would stop cold calling me asking if I need any staff.
