Where do US firms Baker & McKenzie and Dorsey & Whitney fit within the dynamic Canadian legal landscape? Baker had had a Toronto office for years and uses same Swiss Verin compensation model as Norton Rose. Dorsey has strong mining practice with offices in Toronto and Vancouver. Both international firms already on ground in Canada and at least Baker has been growing consistently under stewardship of Jim Holloway, Managing Partner and IP litigator. Should be interesting to see how DLA develops up north and how the mergers of several Canadian firms that were recently consummated affect business.
