Freshfields goes big on high-yield with Simpson Thacher swoop

The Magic Circle firms are going to have an uphill battle breaking into this market. I know that one investment bank recently told a client (who was proposing a Magic Circle firm as their lawyers) that high yield is a US product and a risky one and that if they were at all worried about US liability for their directors, they'd be far better off being represented by a US firm. I suspect this is still the prevailing view in the market.
