In fairness to Links, there are some jurisdictions where it would be impossible to promote too many partners to the equity without having to create separate profit pools. And anyway, I'm not sure there will be another New World for some time. Not everyone likes the atmosphere there, but I think the firm looks to be on a relatively sure-footing now
