Leigh Day makes ‘staggeringly high’ costs order of £105m for Trafigura role

Comment

As a lawyer with zero knowledge of international law I'm interested to know how the English courts have jurisdiction to hear a claim by claimants in the Ivory Coast in respect of pollution that took place there. Should this not be for the Ivorian courts to deal with? I hope Leigh Day can prove that their clients all signed up to their CFA's - presumably with a translation attached - as it would be rather embarrassing if they were in breach of that dear old nonsense the indemnity principle.
