The real challenge for austrian la firms with offices abroad is to keep them - by changing their nature from a culturally closely knit austrian (vienna) firm into a truly eastern European Firm, following the examples of the international leadings firms like Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer etc. Only if they can keep talent (offering equity partnership) and attract high value local and multi-jurisdictional work by offerring top legal quality they will stay in the region. Because once the eastern European Countries have developed, the firms can not count on following their clients...they need to be among the top firms in every jurisdiction they are present.
