Shearman results show market trend

Why does the media continue to allow Shearman's partnership and that of other firms to perpetuate the myth that there have been no lay-offs of associates? Just look at the headcounts in these firms. Hiding behind bogus "performance-based" terminations is shameful and unnecessary denigrates associates, who, while they may be fungible and discardable, shouldn't be sacrificed so that partners can maintain an unnecessary and false aura of invincibility.
