Helen, on your comment, "For example, if you are asked to come in on your day off. Nobody is asking you to do it for nothing, you'll get paid or a day off in lieu"... That is precisely my point - at least one law firm I know of will not give a contractual right to payment or time off if you are asked to come in on your day off. That is the employer taking the proverbial, not the employee.
