This seems like a great experience for a young person- its a shame however how many highly educated lawyers take on these experiences and never learn the local language (a little more than the basics) and just live the experience through other ex pat eyes. Its also really interesting how these lawyers go to these offices and spend their time either in the office, at a bar or weekend day trips........Sure you get to "live" abroad when you get these placements but lets not kid ourselves that lawyers in these situations are truly experiencing the country.
