In my opinion, at least in the foreseeable future, the Turkish legal market will continue to be a collection of firms offering highly overpriced local advice. The only way for Turkish law firms to play a leading role in complex cross boarder transactions is by through an increase in the number of U.S. and U.K. qualified Turkish attorneys. Otherwise, a continuation of "legal colonialism" which the Turkish legal market has been subjected to will be inevitable.
