Headline

Mincoff Jacksons to de-merge a year after forming

Comment

I'm not surprised that Newcastle firms have suffered disproportionately; they were vastly over partnered before the market began to stall. I moved to the corporate department of a leading Newcastle firm from a top 10 law firm. I was staggered to find that the Newcastle firm's corporate department had just over 3 times more partners than my previous firm. However it did less than 30% of the work of my previous firm (by deal value). This inefficiency was mirrored by the working practices of the firm which were more 1970s than 21st century. I left as soon as I could. I'm not surprised by the Mincoffs Jacksons split. There have been mutterings for months.
