The soul searching question is: If the direction is right, then can there be acceptable albeit not ideal, different models of Islamic Economic System, of which Islamic Finance is a part ? c.f. diferent acceptable models of Capitalism, or Socialism. I have been in this field for over 30 years. unlike past insular attitudes, now intelligent scholars, economist & enterpreneurs and lawyers like Oliver & Aymen, Qudeer & Nadim & Luma are politely engaging in dialogue with the oldies. AAOIFI & IFSB & some Regulators are also more positive. The socio-political imperatives are also more sanguine.We are getting there.
