Postcard from... Mumbai

A splendid article, very well written and an honest depiction of the reality in Mumbai. But maybe, its not all so romantic when one is stuck in endless traffic jams amidst madly honking commuters and especially when one's head is throbbing with the heat and humidity that Mumbai is known for. Lets face it, Mumbai is also about the sickness, filth, grime and the beggars you cannot avoid on the streets. But still, Mumbai is New York's Wall Street, London's West End and the migrant in Mumbai will tell you its his city of dreams. Mumbai is the commercial centre of thousands of Indian companies that have just realised thier potential on the world stage (thanks to liberalised economic policies). These companies are driven by energetic but workaholic people - and you will in all probability come accross them on your India-focused deal. When that happens, be warned of long work hours, incessaant emails, short delivery timeliness, Indian's speak. And if you want to make yourself feel any better, think of Mumbai and assume you are working in that city.
