White-collar crime: Sign of the crimes

Slowly but surely, we have found that European based companies, as well as subsidiaries of US businesses are responding to the very real effect of US and European/UK regulations and compliance authorities. These companies are now either strengthening existing compliance programmes or creating new ones. Interestingly, the make up and reporting lines of the compliance departments can be extremely diverse - some favouring a strong link with legal and hiring individuals with legal backgrounds, whilst others are consciously seeking input from other backgrounds, for example HR, marketing or audit.
