Sullivan: let us entertain you – in a thrifty manner

Good for Sullivan & Cromwell! How many expensive outings have summer associates attended over the years which left little in the way of intellectual nourishment or memory? Suspect firms in London might start doing the same, especially as young lawyers would be impressed to learn something they can remember and talk about with colleagues the next day ... why not a walking tour of the City of London with sensible refreshments in an historic pub? Would not only see iconic architecture - old and new - but learn something about the dynamics of the City which is home to so many cultures and provides future employment in world-class financial firms. The change in focus of "summer entertainment" might actually build character and camaraderie. It would provide a welcome basis for a career in the City.
