I was dissapointed to read the anonymous comment posted on 9 April 2009 at 10:53pm. Fraudulent activity and corruption does exist in Nigeria - but it goes without saying that this kind of illegal activity is a worldwide phenomenon - one only needs to mention the Bernard Madoff case in the US which shows that corruption and fraud is an ever present feature in the West. Would that stop the writer from supporting an investment initiative in the US? That said I should also point out that it is not simply a matter of understanding the language and culture in Nigeria as the writer puts it. Nigeria is a diverse country where more than 400 languages are spoken. As such it is more a matter of working cooperatively with Nigerians in the common lingua franca which is English. Nigeria is an emerging economy with lots of potential and is likely to be included with SouthAfrica on the GEMEX index. So please be cautious - I am sure others will be glad to take advantage of this brilliant opportunity. Others will gain from what I am sure will be your loss!
