Report claims councils need ADR to save cash

Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) could save councils more than half a million pounds a year, said an ADR and local government report produced by Nabarro Nathanson and Bristol-based ADR Group. It reported that 44 per cent of local authorities are handling more than 200 disputes a year. According to the report, if these councils referred just 25 per cent of these disputes to ADR and avoided litigation, each council could save around £625,000 a year.
