Repetition, not deviation

The piece about my appearance in the Court of Appeal ('First for sole advocate in civil appeal', The Lawyer 26 March) is inaccurate. It alleges I claimed to be the first solicitor advocate to have acted as a sole advocate in the civil division of the Court of Appeal.

It then quotes Paul Hampton as saying that he could not say that I was the first. The fact was I did not claim I was the first solicitor. All I did was repeat what Paul Hampton had told me.
