Reed Smith taps Herbert Smith for Beijing partner hire
Reed Smith has bolstered its Beijing office with the hire of corporate partner Michael Fosh from Herbert Smith.
Fosh, a capital markets partner who led on the major IPO of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), used to be chief representative of Herbert Smith’s Beijing office - a local regulatory role without specific office management responsibilities.
His client base includes large China-based companies, private equity and sovereign wealth funds.
Reed Smith partner and global head of strategy Michael Pollack, who relocated to Asia last year to push global integration, commented: “Michael’s appointment’s a significant step in the expansion of our capital markets presence in Beijing. His expertise will create further opportunities for cross-sell between our Asian offices and international network. We look forward to welcoming him to our team of over 130 lawyers in Asia.”
Corporate partner Gary Lock is managing partner of Herbert Smith’s Beijing office and will take up the position of chief representative.
A spokesperson for Herbert Smith said: “We’d like to thank Michael for the contribution he’s made to the development of the leading China practice we now have today and wish him all the best in his new role.”
