US firm Reed Smith has raided rival firm Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker’s to secure two new partners for its New York office.
Thomas Fairfield and John Altorelli have joined the firm’s business and regulatory department. Mark Pedretti, of counsel at Paul Hastings’ New York and Stamford offices, also joined Reed Smith.
Fairfield and Altorelli were previously partners in the New York office of Paul Hastings, representing private equity funds, operating companies and financial institutions in a variety of mergers and acquisitions, outsourcing, securities and related transactional work.
Pedretti has a practice representing private equity funds, operating companies and financial institutions in mergers and acquisitions and securities.
Fairfield said: "We considered a number of other firms, but Reed Smith offered the best fit in overall culture, work ethic and strategic vision."
Reed Smith’s New York city market managing partner David Grimes said the firm was aiming to strengthen its corporate practice.
