Reed Smith competition partner Katherine Holmes has left the firm to take up a position at the Competition Commission.
Holmes, who was head of competition at Richards Butler before the merger with Reed Smith in 2007, will continue to work with the firm as a consultant.
She will serve an eight-year term at the commission as a reporting panel member.
Holmes is the second high-profile competition lawyer to join the commission in recent months, with former Slaughter and May head of competition Malcolm Nicholson leaving the firm to take up a panel member role.
