Reed Smith lures McDermott energy partner

Reed Smith has hired project finance energy partner Stefan Schmitz for its London energy and natural resources practice.
Schmitz, who specialises in renewable projects, joins from McDermott Will & Emery, a firm he joined in 2008, and advises developers, investors, banks, manufacturers, utilities and government entities.
Reed Smith partner Kyri Evagora commented: “The renewable energy market’s developed significantly in the past few years and our clients are moving into new markets. Stefan’s expertise, knowledge and contacts will enhance our offering.”
This comes after The Lawyer.com revealed that the Reed Smith group had poached a four-partner team from Pinsent Masons (23 April 2010).
McDermott London office head Hugh Nineham said: “The renewable business is important for us and I hope we’ll continue to grow.”
