Reed Smith has named Richard Swinburn as London managing partner as part of a wave of management changes across the firm’s global practice.
Swinburn, who headed the City arm between 2007 and 2009, has agreed to take on the role again, with current managing partner Roger Parker taking responsibility for the firm’s Asia offices.
Although he will no longer head the City office, Parker will continue to be Reed Smith’s EMEA managing partner, focusing on the firm’s foothold in Europe and the Middle East alongside Asia.
David Boutcher, a London-based partner in the firm’s Europe and Middle East corporate group, has been appointed chair of the firm’s global business and finance department, replacing John Iino. Iino is now managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles practice and chair of the Japan business team.
Other management changes include the move of Jack Nelson, currently managing partner of the firm’s Silicon Valley office and deputy head of the litigation department, to Reed Smith’s London office. He will replace Eugene Tillman, former global head of legal personnel, as resident US partner in London as of May. Nelson continues in the role of deputy litigation head.
Nelson has been replaced as Silicon Valley head by Catharina Min, a corporate and securities lawyer.
Parker told The Lawyer: “As we implement our management changes our primary focus is to continue to facilitate the growth and integration of the business.
“Richard Swinburn already has great experience in the London role and David Boutcher and Jack Nelson will be focused on generating client opportunities and continuing to emphasise the importance of integrating business into the global firm.”
