Reed Smith has bolstered its French arm with the hire of a three-lawyer shipping team from local Paris firm Bouloy Grellet & Godin.
The firm has hired name partner Luc Grellet and two associates to work on matters including insurance disputes and marine casualties. His practice already shares clients with Reed Smith's shipping department, such as Britannia and Steamship Mutual and insurance company Groupama.
Nick Shaw, head of the Reed Smith's shipping practice, said: "Paris is, after London, the second largest shipping arbitration centre in Europe, making it an important location for us to have a strong presence in."
The firm has identified its shipping practice as an area of growth. Earlier this year Reed Smith moved ship finance partner Adam Morgan from London to Dubai and admiralty manager Ron Clark to Hong Kong to boost its presence in those areas.
