US firm Reed Smith has snared seven real estate lawyers from the Pittsburgh office of Pepper Hamilton.
The group comprises four partners and three associates, including former Pepper Hamilton executive committee member and real estate co-chair Dusty Kirk.
She is joined by partners Sharon DiPaolo, Jeffrey Mills and Alan Sable, and associates Peter Kogan, Paul Didomenico and Jeffrey Wilhelm.
All seven will join Reed Smith’s real estate practice in Pittsburgh, along with two paralegals and five support staff.
The move is believed to have left Pepper Hamilton with one real estate partner, one of counsel and four associates in its real estate team in Pittsburgh, after one of the biggest group lateral hires the state has seen in the last year.
Kirk said the team had defected to Reed Smith for its international reach, “significant opportunity for growth” and the opportunity to work with the firm’s tax and insurance recovery teams.
Reed Smith global managing partner Greg Jordan said: “This is a premier real estate practice that represents many of the largest real estate industry players in the country.
“Dusty and her team are already well-known to us as exceptionally skilled attorneys, well-respected and well-positioned in all aspects of this sector, and primed to provide leadership as this key sector of our economy recovers.”
Kirk’s practice focuses on real estate litigation, including real estate tax assessment, land use and zoning. DiPaolo will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the group’s real estate litigation portfolio, while Mills’ practice centres around real estate and commercial and corporate finance. Alan Sable specialises in commercial real estate transactions including transactional leasing and land use.
