Reed Smith has added just one new member to its London-based partnership as part of its latest round of promotions.
In total the US firm promoted 18 to partner across its network, 16 of which are based in the firm’s US offices. Europe received two - construction lawyer Richard Ceeney in London and corporate lawyer Anthony Poulopoulos in Piraeus.
Promotions at the firm have dipped slightly compared to last December, when the firm promoted a total of 22 to partner. London received four promotions.
Overall the majority of US firms have cut their number of promotions this year. Last week TheLawyer.com reported that Latham & Watkins promoted 23 compared to 30 in 2008 while Weil Gotshal & Manges added three to its partnership compared to seven the year before (1 December 2009).
White & Case has bucked the trend this year making 33 up to partner compared to 21 last year. The firm’s London office added a total of six compared to two last year.
