Rebels with a clause

The relative might of two of the legal market’s heavy hitters was on show recently.

A gang of DLA toughs allegedly got wind of a bash hosted by Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) and decided to pop along. Soon after gatecrashing the party, however, the crew was sussed as DLA and told to leave.

This is where the confidence borne out of all that additional international muscle is clearly having its keenest effect. The DLAers refused to budge and then, in a moment of genius, claimed to be delegates from the European Commission.

DLA prevailed, BLP backed down, and the might of the mega firm won the day.

Big firm wins, smaller firm loses – nothing at all like the legal market then.
