Hammonds has lost a dispute resolution team to Richards Butler.
Commercial disputes partner Paul Dillon and senior associate Lisa Mason will join Richards Butler later this summer.
Richards Butler hopes Dillon's experience and background in energy and commodity related dispute resolution will complement the firm's international trade and commodities group.
Kyri Evagora, head of Richards Butler's international trade and commodities group, said: “We look forward to Paul and Lisa joining our team. Their recruitment represents an important step forward for us and fulfils our goal of growing a key area of the firm's business and becoming the advisor of first choice for our clients.”
Dillon said: “They are widely thought of as being the market leader in the field of commodities and trade. Lisa and I look forward to helping to build on this market strength and on growing its energy-related business expertise.”
