THIS YEAR'S weekend school of the Law Society's Local Government Group will cover areas ranging from environment to education.
The event, to be held at the University of Wales in Swansea from 28 to 31 March, will also deal with IT planning for local authority legal departments, plain English, and powers of local government.
As well as the plenary sessions, there will be a parallel workshop on developments in civil and criminal litigation procedure for the non-expert and parallel special interest group sessions on housing and child care.
The weekend will finish with a keynote session by Lambeth Council's chief executive Heather Rabbatts on the lawyer's role in support of a chief executive in troubled times.
Course director Christopher Robinson said: "We hope we've put together a programme which will appeal to all by providing a balance between legal topics and more general issues. Of particular interest should be Saturday afternoon's session on CCT. Delegates will be able to hear experiences of London and metropolitan authorities and question them."
