- BBC legal correspondent Joshua Rozenberg on The Lawyer's role in the landmark case, Locabail (UK) v Bayfield Properties, heard by Lord Woolf, the Master of the Rolls; Lord Bingham, the Lord Chief Justice and Vice-Chancellor, Sir Richard Scott. They ruled that judges should not step down from a trial for reasons of race, gender, religion, age, sexuality, social or educational background or membership of the Masons. The judgment referred to an article published in The Lawyer in June on Lord Woolf's civil justice reforms. It was obviously a case of The Lawyer article wot won it.
