Quinn Emanuel hires Bingham silk for London push

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges has landed a further high-profile hire for its nascent London office in the shape of Sue Prevezer QC.

Prevezer is currently a member of Bingham McCutcheon’s financial restructuring group, having joined from Essex Court Chambers last September.

Bingham managing partner James Roome said: “Sue joined from the bar with the idea of coming in to our non-contentious financial restructuring practice. She liked the idea of getting into a non-contentious role and we supported that.

“She wants to get back into litigation and reconsidered that career move, which is fair enough.”

In Quinn Emanuel’s London office Prevezer will join Richard East and Marc Becker. The former joined from Kirkland & Ellis last month (22 April) while the latter will join the firm’s Los Angeles office before relocating to London in July (13 May.)

Managing partner John Quinn said: “Sue’s background fits the mission we see for our London office. We want to offer London litigants magic circle level talent for disputes that the magic circle firms cannot take on because of conflicts.

“More often than not these disputes arise out of situations in which companies are in financial distress. This is Sue’s particular area of expertise.”

Prevezer was called to the bar in 1983 and took silk in 2000. She has been a deputy High Court judge since 2006.

She said: “I see Quinn Emanuel as the ideal firm to fill an underserved market. I was also attracted to Quinn because of its reputation as a trial firm. It brings me closer to my barrister roots.”
