Tulkinghorn would be first to admit that the highs and lows of the legal world can be enough to drive a man to inebriation once in a while. Dedicated law firm marketeer Oliver Pykett is no exception. For those who don't know him, young Pykett pursued an illustrious career at the likes of Allen & Overy, Hammond Suddards Edge and White & Case before heading out of the City to raise Pykett junior in the West Country, where he was snapped up by Burges Salmon. On a visit back to the Smoke last week, Pykett recalled a night out in his crazy London days when he overdid it somewhat at a do. He managed to leave the premises still standing, but as he made his way home, the prospect of resting for a few moments in a doorway along Kingsway proved too tempting. Pykett only roused from his slumber when a friend recognised him and was more than a little chuffed to find that a few coins had been thrown at his feet. Luckily for us, young Pykett is always armed with a good sense of humour, although he did ask our scribe to keep quiet about his choice of smoked salmon for lunch last week oops, sorry Oli.
